Castle of Udine

The castle of Udine is one of the main monuments of the city and is located on top of a hill in the historic centre, at 138 m above sea level. It is home to the civic museums, which include a picture gallery, the Archaeological and Numismatic Museum, the Risorgimento Museum, the Drawings and Prints Gallery, the Friulian Museum of Photography.

St James square

Piazza San Giacomo, as mentioned, is one of the oldest squares in the city. It was once used for the city market and inside there are two artistic masterpieces of the city. The first is the church of San Giacomo, which we will discuss in the next paragraph. The second is the fountain, created by one of the greatest artists in Friulian history: Giovanni da Udine.

Piazza della Libertà

Piazza Libertà in Udine is the oldest square in the city. It represents the heart of Udine and is the starting point for many historical-cultural itineraries. It is defined as the most beautiful Venetian-style square on the mainland and constitutes a harmonious complex of Renaissance buildings.

Casa Cavazzini

The Museum of modern and contemporary art of Udine is housed in the Cavazzini house, a sixteenth-century building undergoing a long restoration based on an initial project by Gae Aulenti who will leave her office during the course of the works due to a dispute with the municipality of Udine. The museum includes a permanent exhibition housed on two floors, which includes a part of works that are always on display and a section intended for the rotating exhibition, with thematic initiatives, of the other works of the museum heritage, made up of about 4,000 works including paintings, sculptures , architectural drawings and graphics
